FAQ Newsgroup Guidelines

An alt.med.endometriosis FAQ

The topic of this newsgroup is endometriosis, and we will

strive for a focused discussion.  Personal experiences that

the participants have had with specific treatment options are

clearly on-topic.  Explicit discussions of symptoms, medical

problems caused by endometriosis, and how these have affected

someone's health and lifestyle, are appropriate; vague non-specific

complaints are not.



This is a moderated newsgroup; however, the moderators do not

assume editorial responsibility.  You are responsible for the

content of your posts.



Differences of opinion will no doubt arise, but please be respectful

of others when expressing disagreement.  Personal attacks are

not productive.



It is greatly beneficial when subject headers are descriptive of

the issue being discussed. If your header represents the subject

matter, your post is more likely to be noticed by someone who can

provide helpful input.  (Those who respond may alter the subject

header to make it more descriptive of the ongoing discussion.)

Some examples of key words which may help to make the subject

header descriptive:



Symptoms

Bowel symptoms

Bladder symptoms

Surgery

Medication (...lupron, synarel, etc)

Pain relief

Infertility

Pregnancy



Posts should relate to endometriosis, but need not be impersonal.

Our topic should, however, be kept in mind at all times.



Infertility and pregnancy are sensitive issues, and fertility

issues are undeniably a concern in discussion of endometriosis

treatment.  Please keep in mind that we may have among our group

participants women who are infertile and trying to conceive, women

who have had hysterectomies when they still wanted children, women

who do not want children, and women who are pregnant.  In order to

accomodate all of us, and to be sensitive to various needs, please

remember that the topic we have all come together to discuss is

endometriosis.



When discussing the current pregnancy or recent childbirth of any

group participant, please remember to put (PG mentioned) in the

subject header of the post, in consideration for those who may

be feeling sensitive about infertility.  Congratulatory notes

are usually best handled in email.



We hope that these guidelines will help make this newsgroup a

forum for informative and helpful discussion.
